#08 – How to Become the Go-To Expert in Your Industry in 90 Days

#08 – How to Become the Go-To Expert in Your Industry in 90 Days A step-by-step system to go from invisible to in-demand, without a huge following, a fancy website, or years of waiting. Welcome back to Top of Mind – the newsletter that exists for one reason: to make you the most visible, most trusted expert in your space. This week we’re going deep on a question I get in my DMs constantly: “Aamir, how long does it actually take to build authority in an industry?” The honest answer? If you do it right, 90 days is enough to completely shift how the market perceives you. Not famous. Not viral. But known, trusted, and in demand by the right people. I know this because I lived it, going from an invisible expert with a dead LinkedIn profile to someone who gets inbound messages from companies asking to work with me. And I’m going to break down exactly how you can do the same. Why This Matters Right Now Before we dive into the system, let’s look at the reality of the landscape you’re operating in. You’re not scared of content. You’re scared of identity change. Read those again. The opportunity is sitting wide open. And most of your competition isn’t even showing up. Here’s something most people get completely wrong about building authority: They think becoming a go-to expert means spending years building a massive audience, publishing thousands of posts, or having a credential that signals authority before anyone will listen to them. That’s not how it works. The real mechanism is simpler and far more powerful: Becoming the go-to expert is a positioning game, not a popularity contest. You don’t need millions of followers. You need the right people, the ones who hire, refer, and buy to associate your name with a specific problem you solve. Do that consistently for 90 days, and the compound effect kicks in. I had around 6,000 followers on LinkedIn when I started getting unsolicited messages from international companies wanting to hire me or collaborate. Numbers don’t make you the go-to person. Positioning does. From the archives – why this hit me There was a period when I was unemployed for 7 months. During that time I picked up Gary Vee’s Crushing It and something clicked. I had years of marketing experience – Meta ads, SEO, Google PPC, content strategy but zero visibility. Meanwhile, people far less experienced than me were landing clients and opportunities just because they were showing up online. That’s when I made the decision: I would out-position everyone by being the most visible version of myself. The result changed everything. The lesson I took from that period is the same lesson I’m sharing with you today: your expertise is worthless if no one knows it exists. The 90-Day Go-To Expert System I’ve broken this into three 30-day phases. Each phase builds on the last. By the end, you won’t just feel like an expert – the market will treat you like one. 01 – Days 1–30 – Claim Your Territory The first 30 days are about planting your flag. You need to answer one question clearly before you do anything else: What problem do I solve, for whom, and why am I the right person to solve it? This is your positioning. Without it, every piece of content you produce is noise. With it, every post becomes a signal that attracts the right people. Rewrite your LinkedIn headline to state what you do + who you help + the outcome you create. Not your job title. Your value proposition. Pick one specific topic to be known for this quarter. Not “marketing.” Something specific like “LinkedIn lead generation for coaches” or “content strategy for SaaS founders.” Audit your digital footprint. Google your name right now. What comes up? This is what clients and recruiters see before they ever speak to you. Publish your origin story. One post or article that explains who you are, what you’ve been through, and why you do what you do. Authenticity builds trust faster than anything else. Post 3–4 times a week with a clear content theme. Your niche. Your perspective. Your lessons. 02 – Days 31–60 – Build Your Evidence Base In phase two, you stop just talking about what you know and start proving it. This is where real authority gets built. People don’t trust what you say about yourself they trust what you demonstrate. The fastest way to do that? Document everything. Results you’ve achieved. Frameworks you use. Processes that work. Problems you’ve solved for others. Share 2 case studies or mini case studies this month. Doesn’t have to be client work — your own journey is powerful evidence too. Create a signature framework. Give your process a name. “The 3-phase visibility system.” “The FIND method.” Something that only you teach, even if the underlying ideas exist elsewhere. Start engaging with your ideal clients’ content not generic comments. Real, valuable, perspective-adding comments that make people click your profile. Use LinkedIn’s 100 weekly connection invites. Every Monday spend 15 minutes connecting with recruiters, founders, and decision-makers in your niche. Collect and share testimonials or results. Even informal ones. Screenshots of DMs saying your content helped. Short quotes from people you’ve worked with. 03 – Days 61–90 – Activate Your Authority By day 60 you’ve claimed your territory and built a body of evidence. Now it’s time to activate that authority into real opportunities. This is where the fun begins. You stop chasing. You start attracting. Opportunities come to you because your profile, content, and positioning have been compounding for two months. Launch or promote your newsletter, offer, or free resource. You’ve earned attention, now convert it. Make your ask clear. What do you want people to do next? Book a call? DM you? Join your list? Every post should have a soft (or direct) invitation. Reach out to 5 collaborators or peers for cross-promotion, guest posts, or joint content. This accelerates trust dramatically. Double down on

#07 – The real reason talented experts stay unknown

#07 – The real reason talented experts stay unknown It has nothing to do with your content strategy. It’s deeper than that and once you see it, you can’t unsee it. So why are you still invisible? The common answer is: “I just haven’t started posting yet.” Or “I don’t have time.” Or “I need to figure out my niche first.” But here’s what I’ve observed after working with experts across industries and what I had to face myself before I built my own brand from zero to nearly 10,000 followers on LinkedIn: And fear doesn’t show up looking like fear. It shows up looking like preparation. The fears running silently in the background I’ve heard every version of these from experts I’ve worked with, from my own community, and honestly, from myself when I was starting out. Read through this slowly. 01“What will people think of me?” 02“What if I post and nobody cares?” 03“What if people judge my voice, face, accent, or style?” 04“What if people think I’m pretending to be successful?” 05“What if clients expect too much from me?” 06“What if I charge higher prices and people reject me?” 07“What if I become visible… and still fail?” 08“What if my friends and family laugh at me?” 09“What if I actually succeed — and my whole life changes?” 10“What if I’m not as good as I think?” Read that last one again. That one is the real one for most people. Staying invisible is actually a protection strategy. If you never show up, you never find out if you’re good enough. You stay safe inside the idea of yourself, the talented, experienced, capable person that nobody has tested yet. Visibility removes that safety net. And that’s terrifying. You’re not scared of content. You’re scared of identity change. When I finally understood this, everything clicked. Becoming known forces you to stop hiding behind a very comfortable identity: The perfectionist who’s “almost ready” The expert who’s “still learning” The talented person waiting for the right moment The quiet one who everyone discovers “eventually” Building a personal brand means letting go of all of that. It means accepting uncertainty publicly. It means being seen before you feel ready. And that is genuinely uncomfortable especially for high-achieving, experienced people who care deeply about how they come across. “I remember standing in a kitchen with a friend, telling him I wanted to build my brand online but I was scared of what people would think. He stopped warming his food, looked at me, and said one sentence: ‘Do any of those people come put food on your table?’ That line hit me immediately. No they don’t. I wasn’t doing anything wrong. I just needed permission from myself.” — Aamir Jolly, Top of Mind The moment I pressed publish on my first video, nervous, imperfect, scripted from ChatGPT because I didn’t yet know how to communicate on camera, was the most important business decision I ever made. Not because the video was good. Because I stopped hiding. What actually changes when you stop hiding When I started consistently showing up on LinkedIn sharing what I knew, documenting my journey, giving real value from 8+ years of marketing experience something strange happened. I went from applying for jobs with a dead profile and hearing nothing, to recruiters sliding into my DMs with opportunities I never asked for. International brands reaching out. Clients wanting to pay for my expertise. An opportunity to work with a business coach generating over $500,000 a year, surrounded by clients earning $10K+ a month. None of that happened because I became more skilled. I was already skilled. It happened because I became visible around the skill I already had. Here’s what I want you to sit with: There are people right now, less experienced than you, less knowledgeable than you, who are attracting the opportunities you want. Not because they’re better. Because they showed up and you didn’t. That’s not a judgment. That’s just math. The internet doesn’t run on merit. It runs on visibility. And the good news is that visibility is a skill you can build, starting today, starting exactly where you are. Small move. Real shift. Every expert who gets found started with one small act of visibility. Ready to stop being the best-kept secret? #06 – Why Being ‘Niche’ Actually Grows Your Audience Faster (With Proof)

#06 Why Being ‘Niche’ Actually Grows Your Audience Faster (With Proof) You’ve been told to go broad to reach more people. That’s the advice keeping you invisible. Here’s what really works and the data to back it up. Hey, it’s Aamir. I want to ask you something honest. How many times have you hesitated to niche down because you were afraid of missing out, afraid of leaving money on the table, afraid of shrinking your audience? You thought: “If I go too specific, I’ll run out of people to talk to.” I get it. I thought the same thing. But after almost a decade in digital marketing, building an agency, and watching hundreds of experts try to grow online, I can tell you with confidence: That fear is exactly what’s keeping you stuck. The Counterintuitive Truth About Growth Here’s something most people get completely wrong about building an audience online. They think visibility means volume. The louder you are, the more people you reach, the more clients you attract. So they post for “everyone.” They talk about everything. They keep their message broad so they don’t accidentally exclude anyone. And then they wonder why nobody is engaging. Why nobody is buying. Why their inbox stays empty. The problem isn’t your content quality. It’s not your posting frequency. It’s not even your follower count. It’s your specificity. Or rather the lack of it. What the Data Actually Says Let’s talk proof, because this isn’t theory. In 2025, 62% of media professionals ranked growing their audience as a top two priority. But the ones who were actually winning? They all shared one thing in common: a tightly defined niche. The Visibility Gap and why it’s costing you everything Research consistently shows niche audiences have higher engagement, stronger loyalty, and a greater willingness to pay than broad, generic ones. And here’s the kicker: when you’re the go-to person for one specific problem, you stop competing on price. You compete on relevance. And relevance always wins. 💡 The Scarcity Principle: “Find an underserved niche, cover it effectively and suddenly, the barriers to success are a lot lower. Scarcity drives demand.” – James Capo, media operator Why “Go Broad” Is Broken Advice Think about the last time you searched for help online. Did you look for “a generic marketer”? Or did you look for “a LinkedIn growth strategist for coaches”? When someone has a specific problem and everyone with money has a specific problem, they search for a specific solution. A specific person. A specific brand. If your message is broad, you don’t show up in that search. Not on Google. Not on LinkedIn. Not in AI models. Not in conversations. You become invisible to the exact person who needs you most. The Niche Paradox Here’s what nobody tells you: going niche doesn’t shrink your audience, it attracts a better one. A smaller, more targeted audience converts at higher rates. They engage more. They refer more. They stay longer. And they pay more without negotiating every rand or dollar. One perfect-fit client is worth more than ten lukewarm ones who don’t really get what you do. How to Find Your Niche (Without Guessing) There’s a simple framework I use with clients. It sits at the intersection of three questions: 1. What do you know deeply? Your real niche lives in the overlap between your experience and someone else’s pain. Not just “marketing” but “helping service-based coaches attract premium clients through LinkedIn without cold outreach.” 2. Who is the most specific person you can help? Not “entrepreneurs.” Not “coaches.” Try: “consultants who have years of expertise but zero visibility online.” The more specific, the stronger the signal. 3. Is there a gap or is it already crowded? The best niches have momentum but aren’t oversaturated. Ask: can you cover this better than anyone else? Can you bring a perspective that doesn’t already exist? When I was building my own brand, I didn’t start with a perfect niche. I started broad “digital marketer” and then refined it over time as I saw what resonated, who was reaching out, and where I had the most impact. Today my positioning is sharp: I help experts build personal brands that get them found, followed, and paid on LinkedIn and beyond. That clarity is why companies now slide into my DMs not the other way around. The 10-Minute Win This Week Want Me to Look at Your Niche & Positioning? #05 – You’re not stuck. You’re just hidden.

#05 You’re not stuck. You’re just hidden. Hey, you — Let me say something direct, because I think you need to hear it. You are not the problem. I’ve spent nearly a decade in digital marketing. I’ve worked alongside a business coach generating $500K+ per year. I’ve sat in rooms full of designers, SEO specialists, paid ads experts, and coaches all earning $10,000 a month and more. And do you know what separated them from everyone else still waiting for their break? It wasn’t talent (not saying they weren’t talented). It wasn’t credentials. It wasn’t even luck. It was the fact that someone could find them. There are brilliant people in your city, in your industry, in your exact niche right now who are sitting on years of expertise, genuine results, and real skills… and getting passed over every single day. Not because they aren’t good enough. But because they haven’t made themselves visible enough. That’s the uncomfortable truth about the world we live in. And it took me a long time and a lot of painful silence from my LinkedIn inbox to understand it. This issue is about that. Let’s fix it. I had 5+ years of experience. Nobody knew I existed. When I started applying for jobs on LinkedIn, I had real skills. Meta Ads. SEO. Google PPC. Social media strategy. Graphic design. Full digital marketing. Years of actual work behind me. I applied. I waited. I applied again. I refreshed my inbox every hour. Nothing. 📖 The Real Story “I remember scrolling LinkedIn and seeing people posting about social media marketing who were, honestly, nowhere near my level. No shade but they had visibility. They had a voice. They showed up. And they were getting picked for the exact roles I was applying for in silence.” “It hit me like a truck. I wasn’t losing because of skill. I was losing because of invisibility.” — Aamir Jolly That’s me when I started building my brand (1 week in I guess) I’d read Gary Vee’s work on personal branding. I’d read Alex Hormozi on positioning. And one sentence stuck with me that reframed everything: “Even if you have average skills but you are being seen, found, known, and followed you will get paid.” — Aamir Jolly So I made a decision. I stopped applying in silence and started showing up in public. I rebuilt my LinkedIn from scratch. I started posting. Slowly at first once or twice a week, then more consistently. I shared what I knew. What I was learning. What I was getting wrong. I connected with recruiters and founders every week. I started sending the 100 free connection invites LinkedIn gives you. And slowly, month by month something changed. My profile started showing up in searches. Recruiters started reaching out. Then companies. Then clients. Today, my LinkedIn is approaching 10,000 followers. When people search my name on Google, I appear. When they ask AI tools about “digital marketing strategists Aamir Jolly”, I come up. I didn’t get smarter. I didn’t get a new degree. I got visible.   The Big Idea This Week — The Visibility Gap and why it’s costing you everything There’s a concept I want you to understand. I call it the Visibility Gap — the distance between how good you actually are and how visible that expertise is to the world. Most talented professionals have a massive Visibility Gap. They are deeply skilled, genuinely experienced, and quietly excellent. But their digital footprint tells a different story or worse, tells no story at all. Think about it this way. Right now, somewhere in the world, there is a recruiter, a potential client, or a decision-maker looking for someone with your exact skill set. They’re on LinkedIn. They’re searching. But your profile doesn’t show them what you do. Your featured section is empty. Your content feed is a graveyard. Your headline says your job title not your value. So they scroll past you. Not because you aren’t right for them. But because your profile didn’t signal “this is the person I need.” That’s the Visibility Gap. And it’s not closing itself. Here’s what makes this worse The gap doesn’t just cost you jobs or clients. It costs you compounded opportunity. Because visibility builds on visibility. Every post you don’t share is an impression that never happens. Every insight you keep in your head is a reason for someone to trust you a reason that never lands. Research from Hinge Marketing found that professionals with strong visible expertise command up to 13× more in earnings than equally skilled experts with little visibility. The knowledge gap between them? Often minimal. The visibility gap? Enormous.   The Framework — The 3-Part Visibility Framework that changes everything Visibility isn’t random. It’s a system. After testing this on my own brand and helping dozens of experts build theirs I’ve found it comes down to three things. Miss any one of them and the whole thing breaks. 1. Positioning: Be Known For Something Specific Visibility without positioning is just noise. You don’t need more content. You need clearer content. When someone lands on your profile, they should know within 3 seconds exactly what you do, who you help, and why you’re the right choice. A generic headline like “Marketing Professional” tells them nothing. “I Help SaaS Founders Get to $10K MRR Through Content” tells them everything. Specificity creates resonance. Resonance creates trust. Trust creates opportunities. 2. Presence: Show Up Where Your People Are Your ideal client or recruiter isn’t going to stumble onto your LinkedIn profile by accident. You have to meet them where they are. LinkedIn gives you up to 100 free connection requests every week. Use Monday as your “connection day.” Search for recruiters, founders, and decision-makers in your space. Send personalised requests. When they check your profile — and they will — make sure it impresses them. Then post consistently so you stay top of their mind. This is not hustle. This is a system. 3. Proof: Let Your Work Speak Before You Do Opinion is

#04 – Being unknown is expensive.

#04 Being unknown is expensive. The real price tag on staying invisible and one move you can make today to start changing it. Let me ask you something. You’ve put in the years. You’ve built the skills. You’ve gotten real results, for your clients, your employers, yourself. You know your stuff. And yet… when was the last time a new opportunity found you? When did the right client DM you first? When did a recruiter message you saying they’d been following your content? When did an invite come in – speaking, collaboration, partnership – from someone who already knew your name? If it’s rare, or hasn’t happened yet, here’s the uncomfortable truth: This issue is about making that price tag visible. Because most talented people don’t quit out of laziness. They stay invisible because they don’t fully grasp the cost of it. Once you see the number, you can’t unsee it. LinkedIn Just Became the Most Powerful Real Estate on the Internet   The Numbers Don’t Lie Here’s what invisibility actually costs you. These aren’t motivational guesses. This is what the data says about what’s lost when talented people don’t build visibility. And this one hit me hardest when I first read it: ⚡Over 50% of online sellers report losing orders because potential clients simply couldn’t find enough information about them. Not because of bad reviews. Not because of bad pricing. Because of silence. – TrueList, 2025 Read that again. Lost business. Not from a bad pitch. Not from the wrong offer. But from being invisible at the exact moment a buyer was looking. Breaking It Down The 5 invisible price tags of being unknown. Nobody puts these on a spreadsheet. But they’re costing you more than you think. 💸 Price Tag #1 – You’re competing on rate, not reputation. When clients can’t find enough about you online, they default to comparing prices. You end up justifying your fee instead of being chosen because of your brand. Visible experts with niche authority charge 3–7× more for the same work — not because they’re better, but because they’re known. ⏳ Price Tag #2 – You’re always hunting. Never attracting. Cold outreach. Endless proposals. Pitching people who’ve never heard of you. The invisible expert spends enormous energy finding clients instead of being found by them. That energy is draining. And it’s completely avoidable. 🚪 Price Tag #3 – You’re being skipped for opportunities you don’t even know about. Conferences. Panels. Partnerships. Collaborations. Referrals. These go to people the decision-maker has seen before. If your name doesn’t ring a bell when the conversation happens, your name doesn’t get said. You lose opportunities you never knew existed. 🌍 Price Tag #4 – Your income ceiling is local. The person with no online presence is limited to whoever they can physically meet, or whoever happens to come across them. The person who builds visibility online can attract international clients, global opportunities, remote work, and reach that has no geographic limit. 🔇 Price Tag #5 – Every hour you delay compounds the gap. The people who started posting and building their brand six months ago are now six months ahead. And they’re gaining authority, trust, and followers daily. The cost of starting today is zero. The cost of waiting another year? Enormous. I used to be the best-kept secret in the room. Years into my career, real agency work, real results, helping clients grow. I had something that should have been obvious. I knew what I was doing. But nobody outside my immediate circle knew I existed. One evening I was warming food in the kitchen with a friend. I finally said it out loud: I want to start creating content. I want people to know my name. But I was paralyzed by the fear of what others would think. “Do any of those people come put food on your table?” That one sentence from a friend of mine changed something in me. He didn’t give me a speech. He just said the truth. No one who would judge me was responsible for my life. I was. So why was I giving them the power to keep me invisible? The next day I started. It was uncomfortable, imperfect, and honestly kind of embarrassing at first. My first video took over two hours to record a 40-second clip. I forgot my lines. I laughed. I almost didn’t press publish. But I did. And that was the first real step. Fast forward: companies now slide into my LinkedIn DMs to work together. I attract inbound leads and get considered when I do cold outreach. I rank on Google when people search my name. Not because I got magically better at my craft overnight. Because I stopped being invisible. The hardest part wasn’t the skills. The hardest part was the decision to be seen. The Other Side What happens when you stop being invisible. This isn’t hypothetical. Here’s what the data says visible experts get access to: 73% of decision-makers say thought leadership content is more trustworthy than company marketing materials when evaluating whether to hire or buy. Be the expert they read. (Edelman, 2024) More than 75% of senior decision-makers say a single piece of thought leadership content has led them to explore a product or service they weren’t previously considering. Your posts are doing sales calls while you sleep. Professionals with a strong personal brand see inbound leads convert up to 7× more frequently than outbound cold approaches. Warm beats cold, always. 50% of buyers are more likely to purchase from a brand they recognize. Recognition is a business asset. And you can build it. (Capital One Shopping) Visible experts earn premium pricing by default — not by negotiating harder, but because authority removes the price conversation entirely. Visibility isn’t vanity. It’s a business model. Your 10-Minute Win This Week Implement this in 10 minutes Run your Visibility Audit right now. Before you post anything new, you need to know where you stand. Open your phone or laptop and do this in the next 10 minutes: Google your own name. What comes up on page

#03 – AI Is Rewriting the Rules of Personal Branding

#03 – AI Is Rewriting the Rules of Personal Branding The smartest professionals aren’t fighting AI. They’re using it to become impossible to ignore. The Rules Changed. Most People Haven’t Noticed Yet. Here’s something I want you to sit with for a moment. Right now, when someone types your name or a question you should be answering, into ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, or Perplexity, one of two things happens. Either you show up. Or someone else does. There is no middle ground anymore. In early 2026, AI search is no longer a trend coming down the road. It’s already here, and it’s already deciding who gets found and who stays invisible. A 2026 study found that 37% of consumers now begin searches with AI tools rather than traditional search engines. That number is climbing every month. This changes everything about how personal branding works. And most experts, coaches, and professionals haven’t adjusted their strategy yet, which means there is a massive, open window of opportunity for those who act now. That’s exactly what we’re unpacking today. LinkedIn Just Became the Most Powerful Real Estate on the Internet Between November 2025 and February 2026, something historic happened quietly. LinkedIn’s citation frequency on ChatGPT more than doubled, climbing from roughly #11 to #5 among all domains cited. And for professional queries specifically, LinkedIn is now the #1 most-cited source across every major AI platform: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity. Researchers at SEMrush analyzed 325,000 unique AI prompts and found 89,000 LinkedIn URLs being cited in AI-generated responses. The findings are hard to ignore: Here’s the part that should wake you up: most cited posts only had 15 to 25 reactions. AI doesn’t care about viral posts. It cares about consistent, substantive, original content from real people. Your LinkedIn profile page? Citations to profiles actually dropped from 33.9% to 14.5%. It’s your content, your posts, your articles, your thinking, that AI is now using to decide who is an authority. AI Is Separating Experts from Imposters – Faster Than Ever Here’s the paradox of 2026: AI makes it easier than ever to produce content. Anyone with ChatGPT can generate 10 posts in an hour. But that’s exactly why generic, AI-written content is becoming worthless. Scroll through LinkedIn today and you’ll see the same phrases, the same structures, the same advice recycled with slightly different profile pictures. Researchers from Entrepreneur described it bluntly: content that sounds like it could have come from anyone does more damage than silence. Meanwhile, the people who are winning are doing something different. They’re using AI as a tool to amplify their own thinking, not to replace it. I went through this exact transition myself. Early in my content journey, I was generating scripts with ChatGPT and memorizing them like exam notes. I knew marketing deeply, I’d been in the industry for years. But I hadn’t yet learned how to make my thinking visible in my own voice. And honestly? The content felt hollow. No real traction. A few likes from friends. Nothing more. The shift happened when I stopped letting AI write my ideas and started using it only to structure and sharpen thoughts that were already mine. That’s when my content started connecting. That’s when people started reaching out. That’s when LinkedIn started working while I slept.   What’s actually working in 2026 The Three-Part Formula for AI-Powered Personal Branding Based on everything the research shows and everything I’ve tested firsthand, here’s how the strongest personal brands are being built right now: Use AI to scale your ideas, not replace them Start with your own thinking, your own experience, your own take. Then use AI to help you structure it, expand it, or repurpose it across formats. Your lived experience is what AI cannot replicate and it’s exactly what AI search platforms are now rewarding. AI can assist with research and organization. But the thinking itself must stay human. That is the true differentiator in 2026. Publish for depth, not volume The SEMrush data is clear: articles between 500 and 2,000 words attract the most AI citations, accounting for 50% to 66% of all LinkedIn citations depending on the platform. For shorter posts, 200 to 300 words is the sweet spot. You don’t need to post every day. You need to post with enough depth that AI can extract a real answer from your content. One substantive post beats five shallow ones every time. Be consistent in your language and positioning AI search works by identifying named entities and understanding their relationships. When your content uses consistent, precise language, the same terms, the same framing, the same niche, AI learns who you are and what you stand for. Flip-flopping between different angles or identities confuses the algorithm and dilutes your authority. Pick your positioning. Own it. Say it repeatedly. That’s how you become the name AI associates with your space.   The bigger picture The Human Premium Is Now Your Biggest Competitive Advantage As AI-generated content floods every platform, something fascinating is emerging researchers are calling it the Human Premium. Audiences are developing a sixth sense for automation. Polished, perfectly optimized content feels distant. Real stories, real doubt, real imperfection, those feel trustworthy. In other words: your quirks are your moat. Your journey is your edge. The experiences that make you, you – those are the things AI will never be able to write. Authenticity is not a soft, feel-good concept anymore. It’s a hard competitive advantage. The brands and individuals winning in 2026 are the ones who combine smart AI systems with genuinely human storytelling. Not one or the other. Both. ⚡ Win in 10 minutes Do this today to start showing up in AI search Step 1: Open LinkedIn and write a 200–300 word post answering one question you get asked often in your field. Lead with the question. Answer it clearly. Use your exact industry language consistently. Step 2: Make sure your LinkedIn headline uses your precise niche terms, not vague ones. If you want to be known for “personal branding for coaches,” don’t write “helping

#02 – The Visibility Gap: Why people with less skill get more opportunities

#02 – The Visibility Gap: Why people with less skill get more opportunities You’re talented. They’re not. And yet somehow, they keep winning. Today, we fix that. Welcome back to Top of Mind, the newsletter I built because I kept seeing the same frustrating thing happen over and over again. The most talented person in the room isn’t always the one who gets the opportunity. The most experienced coach isn’t always the one with a full calendar. The most skilled freelancer isn’t always the one with a waitlist. Someone with half the experience, a fraction of the skill, and a shorter track record walks away with the client, the collaboration, the speaking slot. And it’s not luck. It’s not who they know. It’s visibility. The internet doesn’t reward the most talented people. It rewards the most visible ones. – Aamir Jolly, Top of Mind The Big Idea for This Week There is a gap growing in every industry. Not a skills gap, the world has plenty of skilled people. It’s a visibility gap. And it’s quietly deciding who gets clients, who gets opportunities, and who gets paid. The Visibility Gap is the distance between what you’re actually capable of and what the world can see you’re capable of. Most talented professionals are living on the wrong side of that gap. They’re doing great work in private, assuming quality will speak for itself. Meanwhile, someone else is showing up online, sharing their thinking, building trust at scale and collecting every opportunity that should have gone to you. Read that first one again. Only 1% of professionals post content on LinkedIn every week. That 1% generates 9 billion impressions. Think about what that means, 99% of your competition has already opted out. The arena is almost empty. Key Insight You’re not competing with the talented people in your industry. You’re competing with the visible ones. And most of the talented people have decided not to show up. This was me for years. I had real skills. Real results. But almost nobody knew I existed and the opportunities kept finding people with less experience who simply showed up more. The market doesn’t reward the best talent it can’t see. It rewards the best talent it can find. Why This Happens: The “Quality Will Find Me” Trap Here’s the belief that quietly holds most talented people back: “If I just do great work, people will notice.” That’s the trap. Because here’s how the internet actually works: You don’t get discovered because you’re good. You get discovered because you’re findable. And you’re only findable if you’re visible. Your potential client is not going to knock on the door of someone they’ve never heard of — no matter how talented that person is. When someone needs a marketing coach, a business consultant, a designer, a writer — they don’t go looking for “the most skilled one.” They go looking for the one they’ve seen before. The one who feels familiar. The one they already trust a little, before they’ve even spoken. That trust is built by visibility. And visibility is built by showing up. Talent gets you in the room.Visibility gets you the room. — Aamir Jolly · Top of Mind Newsletter My Story: From Invisible to Inbound A few years into my career, I had built real skills. Almost a decade in digital marketing. I’d worked inside agencies, helped a business coach earning $500k+ a year, and had actual results to show. But nobody outside my immediate circle knew I existed. I wasn’t getting inbound leads. I wasn’t getting DMs from companies. I was invisible, not because I wasn’t good enough, but because I wasn’t visible enough. So I made a decision. I committed to building my personal brand. I started showing up on LinkedIn consistently. I began writing about what I knew. I worked on my positioning, my content, my online presence. And it changed everything. Now I rank on Google when people search my name. Now companies slide into my DMs asking to work together. Now my leads are inbound, not cold outreach. I didn’t become more skilled only. I became more visible. I’m telling you this not to impress you, but to show you what’s possible when you decide to close the Visibility Gap for yourself. The Real Data Behind Visibility This isn’t a soft, motivational idea. There are real numbers behind the Visibility Gap: Professionals with active personal brands receive 47% more inbound opportunities than those with dormant profiles. (LinkedIn 2025 Workplace Report) 70% of employers now consider a personal brand more essential than a résumé when evaluating someone to hire or work with. (Wiser Notify, 2024) 74% of people are more likely to trust someone with an established personal brand, before they’ve even had a conversation. (Brand Builders Group) Visibility isn’t just a nice-to-have anymore. It is the game. And the game rewards the people who show up. Start Closing Your Visibility Gap Today Here’s something you can implement in the next 10 minutes that will start working for you immediately. One focused action. No overwhelm. Audit your LinkedIn headline right now – Open your LinkedIn profile. Read your headline out loud. Does it clearly say who you help and what outcome you deliver? Or does it just list your job title? Change it to a one-line value statement. Example: instead of “Freelance Graphic Designer” → “I help SaaS brands convert more visitors with scroll-stopping visual design.” This one change makes you findable and memorable in the same breath. Add your Featured section (if it’s empty) – The LinkedIn Featured section is prime real estate. It sits right below your headline and banner. If it’s empty, you’re leaving credibility on the table. Add one thing: a post that performed well, a testimonial screenshot, a link to your best piece of work. You now look 3x more established than you did 5 minutes ago. Post one observation today not a tip, an observation – Don’t overthink content. Write one thing you genuinely noticed this week in your industry. Start with “Something I keep seeing in [your niche]:” and

#01 – Nobody Can Hire You If Nobody Knows You Exist.

#01 – Nobody Can Hire You If Nobody Knows You Exist. You’re skilled. You’re experienced. You’ve done the work. But if the right people can’t find you, none of it matters. This issue is about the one thing that creates opportunities: visibility. Hey! welcome to the very first issue of Top Of Mind. I’m glad you’re here. Before we get into this week’s big idea, I want to give you a quick heads up on what this newsletter is: Every week – one big idea. No long lists. No fluff. Just one insight that could genuinely change how you show up and attract opportunities online. Actionable enough to win in 10 minutes. Valuable enough that you’ll want to share it. Alright. Let’s go. Talent Is Table Stakes. Visibility Is the Differentiator. Here is a scenario that I need you to sit with for a second. Right now, as you read this – there is a business owner somewhere searching LinkedIn, Googling services, and asking in communities for someone who does exactly what you do. They’re ready. They have a budget. They need help today. But they are not going to find you. Not because you’re not qualified. Not because your rates are too high. But because you are invisible. 💡 This Week’s Big Idea You don’t lose clients to better competition. You lose them to more visible competition. This was me for years. I had real skills. Real results. But almost nobody knew I existed and the opportunities kept finding people with less experience who simply showed up more. The market doesn’t reward the best talent it can’t see. It rewards the best talent it can find. Read that last stat again. 1% of people post. 100% of the opportunity goes to them. That’s the gap. And it’s sitting wide open, waiting for you. ✦ This Week’s Shareable Truth ✦ “The internet doesn’t reward the most talented people. It rewards the most visible ones.” — Aamir Jolly, Top Of Mind I Was the Best-Kept Secret Nobody Wanted to Keep. In 2018, I was standing on my feet all day cutting fabric at a store in Pretoria earning R3,500 a month ($190). I had big dreams but no roadmap. By 2019, I’d founded Afroz Marketing and was grinding — graphic design, social media management, digital strategy, SEO, paid ads. I was learning and growing, quietly, every single day. Then COVID hit. My workshop collapsed. Everything disappeared overnight. When things opened again, I ended up living with friends who supported me for nearly a year and a half. Seven months of that were completely unemployed. One afternoon I picked up Gary Vaynerchuk’s Crushing It. One paragraph stopped me cold: after all these years building real skills in marketing, almost nobody knew what I could do. My LinkedIn was a ghost town. My expertise lived entirely in my own head. Meanwhile, people with less experience were landing the opportunities — simply because they were visible and I wasn’t. That realisation changed everything. I stopped waiting to be discovered and started showing up. Today my LinkedIn is approaching 10,000 followers. Companies DM me asking to work together. I’ve worked inside the rooms of an international coach generating $500K+ per year. I attract inbound leads with very less cold outreach. Nothing about my skills changed. My visibility did. “I didn’t find a better strategy. I stopped being invisible. That was the whole strategy.” The Visibility Window Is Open. But Not Forever. LinkedIn now has over 1.1 billion members across 200+ countries. Three new people join every single second. 72% of recruiters actively use it to find talent. It’s the world’s largest professional opportunity machine. But here’s the stat that should make you act today: Only 1% of LinkedIn users post weekly.Yet they get 9 billion impressions per week. The other 99%? Almost invisible. This is a gold rush and most people are sitting on the sideline watching. Thought leadership posts generate 6× more engagement than job posts. Video views on the platform are up 36% year-over-year. Profiles that list at least 5 skills get 17× more profile views. The barrier to visibility has never been lower. The upside has never been higher. The only thing standing between you and opportunities is whether you decide to show up. And look — I know the objections, because I had them all: “Who am I to share advice online?” You’re the person who has lived the experience someone else desperately needs. “I don’t know what to post.” You know more than you think. Every lesson you’ve learned is content. “What if nobody engages?” What if the right client is watching every single post and never hits like, right up until the day they DM you to hire you? A friend once told me when I was nervous to start creating: “Do any of those people come and put food on your table?” Meaning — the imaginary audience you’re afraid of? They’re not paying your bills. So stop letting them make your decisions.   Your 10-Minute Win This Week The Visibility Audit. Do This Right Now. Here’s the one thing I want you to do this week.
